Daily Duel 3/16: George Parros vs. Jody Shelley
In the first installment of Daily Duel, a daily post in which an NHL fight from the night before (or in the case of idle nights, a classic clip) is showcased for fans of old-time hockey, we look at two legitimate heavyweights of the league. Anaheim’s George Parros (6’5, 215) and San Jose’s Jody Shelley (6’3, 228) have now squared off eight times since 2006. Parros seems to get the better of Shelley early in their game last night, leaving a shiner until Shelley’s eye and gaining the take-down to the ice. This looks to be one of those “staged” fights, over which the NHL GMs are meeting to decide how to rid the league of them. Voters at HockeyFights.com seem to believe Parros got the edge, with 44.3% calling it a draw.
