Watch Martin Brodeur Make NHL History

Yesterday I posted a piece on Martin Brodeur’s career and legacy, and how he was on the brink of NHL history. The milestone in question- the career NHL wins record- has now been reached as Brodeur and the Devils defeated Chicago 3-2 for Brodeur’s 552nd career victory. Wins are usually an overrated stat in hockey, because a mediocre goalie can still look good and win games with a great team around him (case in point: Ty Conklin in Detroit). But to be as durable and prolific as Brodeur has been over such a long period of time is quite impressive, any way you look at it.

It would be crazy not to believe Brodeur can play another three or four years, and that he could be racing toward 700 wins by the end of his career. When it’s all said and done, I think we’ll be talking about Martin Brodeur as the greatest goalie that ever lived.

  1. Good for Brodeur. But best of all, no more Patrick Roy on the top of the record books.

    Go Wings!
