Jim Calhoun Hospitalized, Will Miss UConn’s Opening-Round Game
Just minutes ago, Mike Freeman at CBS Sports reported that University of Connecticut Head Coach Jim Calhoun has been taken to a local hospital and will miss the Huskies’ opening-round game against Tennessee-Chattanooga.
The Hartford Courant previously reported that Calhoun was simply under the weather. UConn Director of Sports Medicine Jeff Anderson said that Calhoun “has not been feeling well for the past several days and it is best that he not coach the team today for precautionary reasons.”
The report sounded minor at first, but the hospitalization makes it sound more serious. Let’s send our best wishes to Coach Calhoun and hope he will be healthy for the next UConn game. And yes, there will be at least one more game for the Huskies. Even without their head coach, they should not have much trouble defeating the 16-seeded Mocs tonight.
I might as well post the video for which Calhoun has gained lots of publicity lately. If you actively surf the internet for video but haven’t seen this, I’m not sure what you’ve been looking at! “Get some facts, and come back and see me!” should enter the lexicon of famous press conference blow-ups, along with “PLAYOFFS!?” and “They ARE…Who we THOUGHT they were!”
