Selanne Reaches Milestone in Win
Teemu Selanne added to his Hall-of-Fame NHL resume- and reputation as one of the greatest hockey players ever to come out of Finland- by scoring his 22nd goal of the season and becoming the 45th player in NHL history to score 1200 career points in Anaheim’s 4-3 overtime win against the Predators Wednesday.
The “Finnish Flash” is truly a remarkable talent, with 574 goals and 626 assists in 1120 games over his 17-year career. He took the NHL by storm in his rookie year in 1992-93, when he scored an amazing 76 goals, an NHL rookie record that may never be broken. He wouldn’t touch that number again, but he has scored at least 40 goals in a season six other times. He earned his first Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007, and now he looks to have built a first-ballot Hall-of-Fame career.
Selanne is unquestionably one of the most exciting players of his time. His combination of speed and skill has made him tough to contain throughout his career, and has produced many memorable highlights. The below video showcases many of them.
