Oilers Defenseman Scores…For the Other Team

Compared to the other major sports, it’s quite easy in hockey to inadvertently score on your own net. But these kinds of plays only happen a couple of times every season in the NHL, so they are certainly worth noting. And certainly worth plastering all over the internet for the whole world to see! Watch Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert act just a moment too hastily as he attempts a breakout pass only for it to deflect directly off the skate of the circling Sam Gagner and past Oilers G Dwayne Roloson for the own goal. Stephane Veilleux got credit for the Minnesota goal for being closest to the play, which is sort of like winning on The Price is Right for being closest to the actual retail value.
