ESPN’s Sobel Makes a Bold Masters Prediction
Okay, let me be perfectly honest with you: Jason Sobel predicts Tiger Woods to win the 2009 Masters, and that is far from bold. But it is justified, considering Tiger is coming off an unbelievable comeback at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in just his first stroke play tournament since returning from knee surgery, and appears ready to go. At this point, it would be bold to predict anyone else from the field to win this year’s tournament. It’s actually a common bet for people to bet on either Tiger Woods or the field; I’ll still take Tiger in this one. He’s out to prove the knee injury hasn’t slowed him down at all, and Tiger Woods with something to prove is always a scary thought. It would not shock me, though, if Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington, or Geoff Ogilvy took the green jacket this year, as they have all played well in Tiger’s absence and are perennial top-tier players.
Sobel has already begun live-blogging the Masters, and will be all weekend as well as providing podcasts and video. Check out his prediction and analysis here:
