Angels Play Inspired Ball in Tribute to Fallen Teammate Adenhart

Last night’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox was about much, much more than a baseball game. The Angels lost a teammate in Nick Adenhart, but more importantly a family has lost a son and a brother. His presence will never be forgotten to his teammates, as they will wear a patch with Adenhart’s #34 on their jerseys, keep his picture and number on the center field wall, and keep his locker intact for the entire season.

Along with two other people, Adenhart was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday morning. The perpetrator, Andrew Gallo, faces up to 55 years in prison for charges of vehicular manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, and driving under the influence.

After paying a poignant tribute to the 22-year-old Adenhart, the Angels came together as a team to defeat the Red Sox 6-3 in an excellent all-around performance. Jered Weaver allowed just on unearned run in 6.2 innings of work, and 3-4 hitters Bobby Abreu and Vladimir Guerrero combined to go 5-8 with two runs scored.
