Baseball Tonight Web Gems for April 22
Wednesday night’s web gems were mostly infield plays, two of which coming from perennial Gold Glove candidates. Kevin Youkilis, playing third base instead of his customary first, leads off the list as he dives to stop a line drive against the Twins. Jimmy Rollins makes his first highlight-reel caliber play of the season, likely not the last, as he dives to stop a grounder in the hole and completes the throw.
The names get a little more notable, but the plays get better, starting with Mike Aviles of Kansas City who had to run a little more than Rollins did to make his play. Kevin Kouzmanoff of San Diego stops a bunt-base hit attempt by charging the ball and making a perfect throw.
Despite all this infield brilliance, Chicago right fielder Jermaine Dye tops the list as he runs a long way to make a slight leap for the catch at the wall.
